Construction Skill- Development

15One of the schemes AKF started executing recently was developing the skills of youth in construction fields such as masonry, carpentry, tilling, welding, plumbing and electrical wiring. Trainees will be enrolled in a 2-month training program in Taiz, Aden, Al Dhale’a and Lahj provinces consisting of courses in Extensive English, Workplace Success & Introduction to Accounting. Later, they will be involved in a 4-month vocational training and apprenticeship scheme with experienced construction contractors whom AKF have signed contracts with. AKF will pay 50% of the daily wages of the trainees, as well as the cost of all courses and monthly allowances.

The total number of trainees until April 2011 have reached 54 trainess, while the target number of trainees throughout the year is 400 trainee.
