Activities and Achievements

To help the mission of Al Khair Foundation in improving the level of education in the villages and remote areas of the Republic of Yemen as well as the rehabilitation of the youth of impoverished families in thses areas, the Foundation has founded and built Al Khair Institute (in Al Madhaf village, Bani Shaibah District)


Al Khair Institute that was built by the foundation consist of two floors building amid a beautiful garden, and was equipped with power generator, a faculty of administrators, teachers and supporting staff. It has been additionally provided with books, computers, and other accessories needed for the training on sewing and embroidery. The first 2 batches (159 students) have graduated from this institute (academic years 2008/09/10) in the following fields:
- 51 Students (high-school graduates of both sexes) have graduated in intensive (remedial) courses in Arabic & English languages and in computer skills.
- 29 Students (females), in literacy (basic reading & writing)

- 46 Students (females), in various skills of sewing and embroidery (2 batches per year)
- 33 Students (females), in handicrafts (2 batches per year).


Moreover, (54) trainees have graduated from this institute in the academic year 2010 & 2011 in the following fields:
- 32 students in Arabic & English languages and computer skills
- 10 students in the skills of sewing
- 12 students in handicrafts


The foundation has launched a new program for the development of the skills of youth who graduated from technical institutes with the aim of providing on – job training opportunities in the construction field such as masonry, plumbing, electrical wiring, carpentry… etc.

This training will eventually enable those trainees to secure meaningful jobs. The first phase of this program has already started in Taiz with 200 participants, and will be followed by the second phase in Aden with a similar number of trainees. Community Livelihood Project (CLP) has participated positively in these programs with great support.


The Foundation aspires to inaugurate similar institutes in the villages of other provinces in the Republic of Yemen in the near future.
